A trembling start, a profound bond
Blue came into my life as a skinny, six-month-old mutt, locked in a crate, terrified and neglected. The call came, and without hesitation, I drove four hours to bring him home. There was something about him that pulled me in, a silent plea that I couldn't ignore. He was the best dog I ever owned, and our years together were a profound education in patience, understanding, and unconditional love.
Lessons from a loyal companion
Through Blue, I spent years diving deep into canine behavior, working through his reactivity, fear responses, and anxiety. I learned the intricacies of his unique blend of greyhound, border collie, and black lab – from his greyhound build and running style to his border collie intelligence and lab-like retrieval passion. Blue, the black and white dog you see throughout our website, shattered my ignorance and ignited a passion for understanding dogs in a way that respects their nature without humanizing them. Every lesson, every triumph, every challenge taught me how to bridge the gap between human and canine worlds. My experiences with other rescues like Demon, a German Shepherd, and Rex, a long-haired Dachshund, further deepened this understanding.
